Introduced in 1999 as a product of Swedish specialty chemicals provider Perstorp AB, Polygiene antimicrobial technology quickly gained recognition as an effective and environmentally friendly antimicrobial technology using natural silver salt. Polygiene AB was incorporated in 2006 as a separate company with Perstorp AB as its principal owner.

Since the introduction of our breakthrough technology for thermoplastic applications in 1999, Polygiene brand recognition has grown rapidly as we continue to develop new solutions for numerous other uses including textiles and other materials.
Milestones
2011
Polygiene came out among the top ten companies in the Sweden Technology Fast 50, an independent ranking by Deloitte on percentage revenue growth over the last five years.
Polygiene also ended on 92nd place out of 500 companies for fastest growth in the EMEA region (Europe, Middle East and Africa).
2010
Polygiene recognized by Deloitte Touche among the Sweden Technology Fast 50 as one of Sweden’s fastest growing technology companies and as one of the country’s Rising Stars, the top 25 young companies.
2009
Polygiene Odor Control Technology AT300 get Bluesign approval.
2008
Polygiene retail products are introduced in selected markets.
2007
Polygiene Odor Control Technology in textiles and fabrics and first launch withHaglöfs.
2006
Polygiene AB is established as an independent company with Perstorp AB as principal owner.
2005
The electrical industry in the United Kingdom embraces Polygiene and several products are put into production.
Polygiene receives the Frost & Sullivan Award for Technology Innovation.
New solutions using Polygiene are developed for applications, such as clear and decorative coatings, textiles, paper and laminates.
2004
Polygiene technology is well received at the K 2004 international trade fair for plastics and rubber, and receives requests for alternative uses on other types of materials.
Agreements are reached for the installation of Polygiene products at the Hilton Hotel in Milan and the new Bangkok Airport.
2003
Thermoset toilet seats made with Polygiene are successfully tested in China where they prove to have a unique anti-viral effect against the Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome (SARS) Corona virus.
1999
Perstorp AB, a globally recognized leader in specialty chemicals and engineering materials, adds silver ions to thermoset toilet seats in search of a solution for improved hygiene.
